YASKAWA Christmas campaign supports “DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS”
13. December 2019
This donation is intended as a signal at the end of a successful year,” said Bruno Schnekenburger, CEO of YASKAWA Europe, speaking at the event. “As a technology corporation we have a particular sense of responsibility towards society. For this reason, generating new values for the development of society is a central element of YASKAWA’s worldwide strategic corporate goals Vision 2025.”
Emergency aid in crisis areas
With a donation DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS can help the hundreds of thousands of people in the Democratic Republic of Congo who are threatened by an acute humanitarian crisis. People in Congo have suffered violence and displacement for years, and many live in camps under precarious conditions. In August 2018, Ebola broke out in the northeast of the country and continues to this day. A serious measles epidemic has also been on the agenda since the beginning of the year. DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS teams have, for example, vaccinated around 475,000 children against measles and are fighting the Ebola epidemic in ten projects. The DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS staff carry out more than ten million medical treatments per year. Last year, for example, they treated some 2.5 million malaria patients and more than 260,000 children suffering from malnutrition. In 1999, DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its services.
